My dinosaur and dragon loving kids were so excited to receive this book. The illustrations are amazingly done. There are envelopes, doors, and little books inside to open and read or take out and read.
This book is so fun and full of information. The page from legends around the world and the page with dragon names in various languages are two of my sons favorites. I love the question & answers in the Bible section in the back of the book. This is easily one of our favorite books.
(Posted on 6/20/2018) Review by Stacy What did you think? Tales of dragons and sea serpents have captured the attention of man for centuries.
Ancient cultural artifacts tell the tales of brave warriors fighting these creatures. With legends of dragons being so numerous, it's easy to see that some type of creature did exist. Just what were these creatures of old? Do they still exist?
What about tales of the Lock Ness Monster? Could they also be true? Dragon: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs takes us on a journey through time as we learn about the legends of dragons and dragon slayers from across the globe. The interactive nature of the book allows kids to be actively involved in the reading. From Babylon to Greece to China to America to the United Kingdom to Africa, you will read legends which tell tales of dragons. You will see ancient artifacts that show drawings, carvings, and sculptures of dragons.
You will hear eye witness accounts of encounters with monsters. Once you begin your reading, you may start to wonder - what is a dragon? Could they really exist? What is a dinosaur? Are these things Biblical?
The book goes into detail about these subjects and more. Be warned, these are taught from a Creationist viewpoint. As in, dinosaurs/dragons roaming the earth at the same time as humans. If you do not want to believe in such teachings, you will want to put down the book and walk away. On the other hand, if you want to see things a little differently than you may have been taught, you can put on your Creation colored glasses and keep reading.
After you learn about dinosaurs, dragons, and the Bible, you will learn how to say dragon in several different languages. You'll dive into the world of saints and slayers of old. A few more legends and tales must be told before you can read more Biblical questions and answers. Beautiful pictures enhance your journey through Dragons: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs.
As you can probably tell from my description of the book, we very much enjoyed this book at our house. The interactive nature of the book, the stories, and illustrations are wonderful. It's a fun book that makes you think. Disclosure: I received a copy of the above mentioned book from New Leaf Publishing/Master Books to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. (Maybe it will, they seem to think it will make them brave if they climb the mountain.). Do you think Frog and Toad will make it up the mountain and be brave? So, were they really brave if they ran home and hid? (Maybe not) Because Frog and Toad were placed in some difficult and scary situations while climbing the mountain, do you think they were smart for running home when they were in danger?
(Yes, it was smart to run and hide when they were in danger.) Sometimes our lives are more important than trying to show how brave we are when we are faced with dangerous situations. I think Frog and Toad were smart to be brave, but to also know when to hide. Why did they run home and hide while being brave together? (Because climbing the mountain wasn’t that hard, but the things on the mountain were scary and dangerous to Frog and Toad.). Is it ok to be afraid sometimes? (Yes.) Are you still brave even if you get scared sometimes?
(Yes, because even though you are brave like Frog and Toad tried to be sometimes things happen that will scare you because they are dangerous, no matter what.).
