In my opinion the BMW RSD (repair service data) DVD is a much better service manual but you need a Windows PC to use. A friend of mine that uses MAC's purchased a decent used Dell Laptop for $50 and stuck a 120GB SSD in it just to keep in his garage with the RSD on it and it work well for that.So far, I have used the RSD for only basics such as swapping the muffler, pegs, and installing racks for adv panniers, but found it very useful. I only have a MacBookPro and use Wine every time with out issue.
I loaded the DVD onto my Mac hard drive in a folder 'RModelsK5xMJ1' and click on 'RepairManuals.exe'. 30 seconds later, the RSD opens w/ full functionality. Received the Haynes Manual today which I ordered through Amazon.com This is the ABSOLUTE WORST printed book/manual I've ever purchased. Dozen of pages are so faint it's unreadable. I did read this issue in the Amazon reviews, but i figured it may have been a bad batch. But after receiving mine, its apparent it Hayne's.
They really need some QC. I perused the manual to see what service areas are affected. Not that I considered keeping it, but just getting an idea if it would impact areas I'd tackle myself. And sure enough, some basic maintenance pages, fork disassembly and assembly.

And I just stopped. So let me save you guys some time and tell you I wouldn't waste my time and money on this poorly printed manual. Seems to be a bit of a crap shoot lately, according to a semi-disturbing percentage of the feedback.

I guess I lucked-out. FWIW, mine arrived 2 weeks ago (from Amazon). Other than the usual Haynes 'challenges' with content which I have always found tolerable as long as no better equivalent alternative is available (often enough in my case over the last 5 decades), the print quality on this one is 100% acceptable. None of the flaws others have reported - as has always been the case by my experience. It'd be worth it to me to return it and take another roll of the dice.
